Q & A

How can I enroll my child in the school or get on the wait list?

Please check out our enrollment page for more info.

When does the school close due to weather?

At Creative Sprouts, we follow the Lake Washington School District's policies on inclement weather days.  If they are closed, we will be closed.  If they have a late start and open at 11am, we will open at 11am also.  If you think we might be closed or late, please go to www.schoolreport.org and look up the Lake Washington School District under King County Schools.  Any needed info will be there.  In addition, we will do our best to update here on our website if there are any closures.  Thank you!

How do you discipline the children?

We don't like to jump in and solve situations for the kids. We instead teach them specific words to use in not so pleasant scenarios like toy stealing, pushing, etc. We are there to diffuse, and be a tool for them to use in solving their own problems. If someone is hitting, or being physical with another child, we will step in and stop the behavior, remove a child if necessary, then go back when the child is calm and facilitate a conversation between the two children. We have found it is much more effective (in a hitting or other physical situations) if the child who has been hurt addresses the child who has had the inappropriate behavior. We help kiddos with a quieter, softer demeanor, learn to talk loudly. Saying things like, "Don't hit me! That hurt!". This makes a much bigger impact than a teacher saying, "We don't hit." It is our job to keep the kids safe and to teach them (in all "acting out" situations) how to talk with each other and solve their own problems.

Are half days available?

You can choose 1-5 full days per week. Our hours are 6:30am-6:00pm, all of which are available to you for care. To experience the full benefit of our program, we suggest children arrive by 9:00am. We can accomodate full time working families as well as families who may only need a couple days per week.  There are no half day options.

When is the school closed?

Please take a look at our school calendar for a complete lists of days closed.

Note:  the school does not close on July 5th if July 4th falls on a Friday or Saturday.

Do you have a disaster plan?

We have an extensive disaster plan that we share with our current families at orientation.  All of our staff are trained in how to keep the children safe in the event of a fire, intruder, earthquake or other natural disaster.  We take our disaster plan very seriously and conduct frequent drills (more than just fire drills which we do monthly) to stay prepared.
